S'pore Power Failure (again)
Hi, finally manage to set up this 2day. 1st time writing my stuffs here, thus hope it does well :p
Yes'day, 29 June 04, Jurong area had power failure. Every where I looked out of my block was dark. Soon, tiny lightings began to be seen in every households, including mine. That's uncool as it was very quiet without the sounds of tvs. Then, some more the cut off of electricity resulted the electrical fan in my flat not to function.I was about to sweat like after tedious execising.
The failure came all of a sudden. And after I on my portable mini-radio, I found out that several areas were too affected. No, traffic lights on roads, then how was I supposed to go to work since I'm lobanging my daddy's car?? Since, no tvs, I decided to contact my friends to see how they were doing? But gosh, no signals and receptions for my mobile phone & cordless phone too. Thought of phoning my assistant manager that i'd be late but too bad, unable to reach him since no signal for handphone...
Anyway, I still set off to work. At a traffic junction, though without any traffic lights, fortunately local drivers are pretty aware of safety and are co-operative, thus no accidents so far.
I reached my lab just on time. When I told a colleague about the power failure, he was shocked and revealed that actually two mths ago, it did happen & came out in the newspaper. Well, perhaps I'm not a papers reader, I'm not aware of it! Hahaha~
Too bad, Ayer Rajah wasn't affected. Darn it! Anyway, through this incident, I came to know that in every household it's advisable to keep a touch, with spare batteries, and best if possible ensure there's a cord-type phone in your house just in case your handphone has no reception. :D
Well, hope it wouldn't happen again & again...
PS: Read the papers cos it's sure an issue of topic, found out that failure is due to the cut off gas supply from Indonesia...??
